Main Street Getting Monthly Cleanup

Volunteers from Reisterstown's Main Street Committee started a monthly Main Street cleanup in May as part of its effort to beautify and revitalize Reisterstown's historic district.

Reisterstown’s Main Street Committee recently kicked off a monthly effort to clean up the area.

On Saturday, May 4, about 40 volunteers filled more than an entire dumpster with trash.

“We expected at least 20-25 people and we ended up getting 40-45, so that was awesome,” said Kinsey Gill. She is a member of the Clean, Safe, and Green subcommittee, one of five groups in the Main Street Committee.

The volunteers spent three hours picking up trash and pulling weeds on Main Street from Chartley Drive to Butler Road.

Materials for the cleanup effort were donated by Furguson Enterprises, HD Supply, Northeastern Supply and Live Green Landscape Associates.

The effort will continue on every first Saturday through September, and Gill hopes to continue beyond that. The next cleanup is on Saturday, June 1.

“It’s open to everyone,” she said. “You don’t have to be in any type of group or club…the more the merrier.”
