Main Street Property Slated for Redevelopment to be Auctioned

A property on Main Street in Reisterstown that was slated for a two-story brick building and 12-bay auto service shop will be auctioned off on Friday, March 29.

328 Main Street, the current location of Bart’s Motor Works, will be auctioned by Alex Cooper Auctioneers on Friday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at the property.

The property, which houses Bart’s small garage, a trailer and always has dozens of cars awaiting repair sitting in its lot, would have been completely redeveloped.

Plans called for a 5,000-square foot, two-story brick building and a 12-bay auto shop in the back. High-end pre-owned vehicles would have been sold on the first floor of the building, and the second floor would have been offices. Up to six vehicles would park in front, according to David Karceski, a lawyer, and Robert Hanna, an engineering consultant, both of whom represented the garage’s owners at a meeting in December of the Reisterstown-Owings Mills-Glyndon Coordinating Council.

Developers could not be reached for comment.

The site, which sits between Java Mammas and the Harryman House was up for demolition in March, and Hanna said the project would have taken eight months.
