Man Assaults Parents, Wife Before Taking Own Life
One woman was sent to Shock Trauma with serious injuries.

A man assaulted his estranged wife and his parents before barricading himself in a Hampstead home and shooting himself Monday evening, Baltimore County police said.Â
Police said that at 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 9, officers responded to an unknown trouble call in the 4400 block of Mt. Carmel Road in Hampstead.Â
When they arrived, police said they discovered that several people had been assaulted and that the suspect had barricaded himself inside the home with a rifle.
Police said that Kris Abbott, 43, had assaulted his estranged wife, Dawn Abbott, and his parents, Russell and Virginia Abbott, during a domestic argument. The suspect also damaged a vehicle with a metal pipe. Dawn Abbott was pushed to the ground, and Russell and Virginia Abbott were struck with the same metal pipe, according to police.
Virginia Abbott, 76, of the 5100 block of Byerly Road in Upperco, was flown to Shock Trauma for treatment of serious injuries. She was the only victim transported to the hospital for treatment, according to police.
Kris Abbott was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound when tactical officers made entry into the home, police said. The rifle was recovered on scene.
The suspect's body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
