New Town Titans, Franklin Indians Bound For State Semifinals

Both New Town and Franklin will be playing this week in the state semifinals in the MPSSAA playoffs.

REISTERSTOWN, MD — Owings Mills and Reisterstown will both send teams to the state football semifinals this week. The playoff dates have not been firmed up yet.

The New Town Titans beat the Eastern Tech Mavericks, 15-8, in the class 2A north regional playoffs on Friday, Nov. 16.

New Town's win over Eastern Tech was a bit of an upset, as the Mavericks were the No. 1 seed and the Titans were ranked No. 3 in the class, according to the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA). The game took place at CCBC Essex at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.

The Franklin Indians will head to the class 3A state football semifinals this week after winning the 3A north regional crown. The Indians beat the Dundalk Owls, 42-7, in the regional championship.

Franklin's win over Dundalk was also an upset, as the Owls were the No. 1 seed and the Indians were ranked No. 3 in the class. The game took place in Dundalk at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16.

The state semifinals are slated for Nov. 23 to Nov. 24.
