Owings Mills Student Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program

Rachael Snyder placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students.

Congratulations to Rachael Snyder, an Owings Mills High School student who has been named a Commended Student in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. 

Rachael has placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2014 competition by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). 

The young men and women being named Commended students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success, according to a National Merit Scholarship Corporation release.  

In addition to being a full-time student at Owings Mills High School, Rachael is enrolled in the Diploma to Degree Program at the Community College of Baltimore County where she takes classes to earn her Associate’s Degree, according to the Owings Mills High School website.  Upon graduation from OMHS, Rachael will have earned her high school diploma and associate’s degree simultaneously.

Rachael plans to enroll in pre-veterinary courses at Goucher College or the University of Maryland Baltimore County, according to the OMHS website.

Owings Mils High School was ranked as a top school in Maryland by U.S. News and World Report.
