A new Dunkin' just opened up, and it has something that others don't. Like its counterparts, the drive-through and eat-in restaurant will serve up coffee, doughnuts, bagels, egg sandwiches and wraps.

In addtion, the new Dunkin' at Red Run Boulevard has a cold brew system, the only one in the local area, according to franchise owner KK Sidhu.

The special system has eight taps, and it pours coffee, iced tea and tea.

Cold brew is made in smaller batches than hot coffee and is supposedly less bitter. It requires cold water and steeping for several hours before coffee grounds are filtered out to form a concentrate, according to Real Simple.

Sidhu, who owns a dozen Dunkin' locations in Baltimore County — half of which are in the Owings Mills and Reisterstown area — said other local Dunkin' establishments don't have the luxury of cold brew.

The location of the new Dunkin', near the intersection of Red Run and Dolfield boulevards, is also expected to be a boon for business.

"This shopping center is visible from two extremely busy roads, and we expect to generate traffic from commuters traveling to and from work each day," Sidhu said of Red Run Station.

"The Reisterstown and Owings Mills market has embraced the Dunkin' brand, and we could not pass up the opportunity to open another store at this location," Sidhu added.

More than 75,000 people live within a 3-mile radius of Red Run Station, and the average household income is near $94,000, according to Hill Management, which owns the new 10,498-square-foot retail center.

"The coffee obsession in this country continues to grow, and Dunkin’ is a highly-
recognized brand that will perform exceptionally well given the dense residential neighborhoods
and mature business communities located within close proximity to the shopping center,"
Vice President of Hill Management Services Danielle Beyrodt said in a statement.

The timing of the new restaurant comes as Dunkin’ recently released its fall menu offerings, which include pumpkin doughnuts and muffins, apple cider doughnuts and Munchkins and the cinnamon sugar pumpkin latte. Dunkin' said its pumpkin-flavored products increased by almost 16 percent in 2018. Last fall, the company also shortened its name from Dunkin' Donuts, calling itself "Dunkin'" as it marketed itself as a "beverage-led" brand, according to a corporate statement.
