Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For 4 Counties Plus Baltimore
BREAKING: People in areas under the severe thunderstorm warning should move inside to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for four counties and Baltimore City. The warning is in effect until 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 30.
Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm at 3:32 p.m. that was located near Ellicott City and Columbia that was moving east at 45 mph. It had 70 mph wind gusts.
These areas are under the severe thunderstorm warning until 4:15 p.m.:

- Northern Anne Arundel County
- Eastern Howard County
- Southern Harford County
- Southern Baltimore County
These locations may be impacted: Baltimore, Columbia, Severn, Pikesville, Middle River, Elkridge,
Riviera Beach, Baltimore-Washington Airport, Gibson Island, Bodkin Point, Sillery Bay, Millers Island, North Point State Park, Pinehurst, Back River, Sparrows Point, Glen Burnie, Ellicott City,
Dundalk and Towson.
"Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay away from windows," the National Weather Service warned.

"This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. This storm has produced widespread wind damage across Frederick," weather officials said. "SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows!"
Baltimore County Public Schools is holding dismissal due to severe thunderstorms passing through the region at the following schools:
- Westowne ES
- Halethorpe ES
- Featherbed Lane ES
- Catonsville ES
- Relay ES
- Riverview ES
- Westchester ES
Dismissal will begin when weather conditions make it safe to do so, according to Baltimore County Public Schools personnel.
Students in Howard County were being dismissed after 3:45 p.m. since a tornado warning expired there.
(EXPIRED): A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 30. The warning includes five counties and calls for hail and strong winds.

These are under the severe thunderstorm warning:
- Carroll County
- Howard County
- Montgomery County
- Frederick County
- Baltimore County
Just before 3 p.m., weather officials said that radar detected a severe thunderstorm over Frederick County in Linganore-Bartonsville that was moving east at 45 mph. Ping-pong ball-sized hail and 60 mph wind gusts accompanied the storm.
These locations may be impacted, according to the warning: Columbia, Frederick, Pikesville, Damascus, Harry Grove Stadium, Ellicott City, Catonsville, Woodlawn, Randallstown, Owings Mills, Eldersburg, Milford Mill, Reisterstown, Lochearn, Ballenger Creek, Mount Airy, Walkersville, Sykesville, Oakland and New Market.
As a precaution, people should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe from wind and lightning. Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 9 p.m.
