Strong Thunderstorms Detected In Baltimore-Washington Metro Area
Breaking: Severe weather, including hail and strong wind, are possible Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Residents in the Baltimore-Washington metro area should be on the lookout for potentially severe weather, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a hazardous weather outlook Friday.
At 5:30 p.m., officials said a strong thunderstorm near Laurel and Beltsville was moving northeast at 30 mph. These areas may be impacted, officials said: Columbia, Severn, Beltsville, Elkridge, Baltimore-Washington Airport, Laurel, Arbutus, Fort Meade, Savage-Guilford, South Gate, Scaggsville, Ilchester, Calverton, Linthicum, Burtonsville, Jessup, Savage, Hanover, Harmans and Georgetown.
Pea-sized hail is possible, officials advised.

Isolated thunderstorms, some containing hail up to dime size, continue moving northeastward across the DC metro and may reach Baltimore in another hour or two.

Thunderstorms were also reported after 5 p.m. in Carroll, Howard and Baltimore counties and Baltimore City, after a strong thunderstorm was moving northeast from the Westminster and Gamber area, according to the National Weather Service.
"Strong to severe thunderstorms [are] possible this afternoon," the National Weather Service advised. "Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats."

These areas are under the hazardous weather outlook: Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard and Montgomery counties.
