Teen Sent to Hickey After Tanning Salon Theft
A 17-year-old was charged with burglary after stealing the cash register from a Main Street tanning salon in Reisterstown.

A teen was sent to Hickey School after he stole the cash register Thursday from a tanning salon in Reisterstown.
The 17-year-old male was arrested in the afternoon on Thursday, March 7, and charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree assault and petty theft, according to Lt. Stephen Doarnberger, assistant commander of the Baltimore County Police’s Franklin Precinct.
Police were called to Tropical Tan in the 700 block of Main Street at 9:20 a.m. Thursday for a report of a break-in. An employee arrived to find the rear door open and the cash register missing. A security camera showed the teen inside the business stealing the register at 1:11 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, when the business was closed due to snow, a police report said.

At 1:50 p.m. on March 7, an employee called 911 to report the teen was in the store. Police arrived to arrest him, got one handcuff on him when he broke free and ran, pushing the front door shut on the officers chasing him, the report said.
The teen ran to an apartment in the 12000 block of Reisterstown Road, refusing to come out. Officers got a key and found him inside with handcuffs still on one arm, the report said.

The teen was charged as a juvenile and sent to the Charles H. Hickey Jr. School in Catonsville. The assault charge is from shutting the door on the officers, who sustained minor injuries, and the theft charge is for fleeing with the handcuffs, according to the report.
