Tractor-Trailer Crashes Into Jersey Wall On I-695: Officials

Part of I-695 was jammed Saturday as emergency personnel handled the tractor-trailer crash.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A jackknifed tractor-trailer is snarled traffic on Interstate 695 Saturday afternoon in Baltimore County for more than two hours. The tractor-trailer hit a jersey wall, so both the inner and outer loops were impacted as emergency personnel responded to the crash.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision, which occurred near the exit for Security Boulevard before 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, according to state transportation officials.

Two people were hospitalized, the Baltimore County Fire Department reported.

The tractor-trailer went through the jersey wall on the inner loop, according to the fire department, which had multiple crews handling the crash. Hazmat crews were also called, officials said, because of a ruptured fuel tank.

At 2 p.m., officials said they were clearing the scene.

By 3:30 p.m., the Maryland State Highway Administration reported all lanes had reopened.
