Two Dog Bowl Contestants Are From Baltimore Humane Society
Two senior dogs from the Baltimore Humane Society are competing in Animal Planet's Dog Bowl.
BALTIMORE, MD — Two contenders for this year's "Dog Bowl" on Animal Planet are from the Baltimore Humane Society.
Boomer, 11, a mixed breed, and Molly, 9, a Chihuahua mix, are among the contenders for the coveted "Lombarky" trophy in the annual event that features teams made up of shelter dogs, according to the Baltimore Humane Society, which is based in Reisterstown.
The game happens annually before the Super Bowl. Boomer and Molly will be competing for the first-ever "Super Senior Award" against dozens of dogs from around the country.

Animal Planet, which broadcasts the matchup, reports that 100 percent of animals that participate in the Dog Bowl and Puppy Bowl have been adopted.
The Dog Bowl III airs on Animal Planet at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1.
