16 Places to Find Locally Grown Holiday Trees Near Owings Mills, Reisterstown

The list of area farms includes some in Glyndon.

Those living in Owings Mills and Reisterstown do not have to go far to find a locally grown tree for the holidays. There are a handful of farms close to home where you can pick and in some cases cut your own.

Each year, more than 40 percent of holiday tree buyers say they purchased theirs at a tree farm or garden center, according to the National Christmas Tree Association.

"As we celebrate the holiday season, I encourage all Marylanders to buy a real, fresh Christmas tree from a locally owned farm," said Maryland Agriculture Secretary Joe Bartenfelder.

“Christmas trees are an agricultural crop. They are grown to be cut, enjoyed and then new ones are planted again,” Bartenfelder said. "Farms that grow Christmas trees stabilize soil, protect water supplies and provide wildlife habitat."

Agriculture is Maryland's biggest commercial industry, and Maryland farmers who grow Christmas trees help the environment because by planting and replanting them, officials say they are expanding the amount of available oxygen.
