Delegate Bromwell, who serves as Vice Chairman of the House and Governmental Operations Committee, played a crucial leadership role in obtaining Assembly approval for the HOPE Act, a comprehensive package of measures which establishes a 24/7 treatment for individuals experiencing substance abuse and mental health crises, and requires hospitals to establish new protocol for discharging patients treated for substance abuse. The Act also increases access to naloxone, an overdose-reversal drug and sets greater funding for community behavioral health providers.
The Association extolled Bromwell, calling his leadership, “essential to ensure that hospitals have the tools they need to provide quality health care to all Marylanders."
