Baltimore County Councilman David Marks – Making Points or Making Enemies?

It’s election time and the propaganda fills my mailbox every day. Today, however, a piece of literature arrived that completely incensed me. It came from Baltimore County Councilman David Marks trashing his opponent Jay Payne and because of it, I would NEVER vote for Marks. He must be worried about his opponent. All it did was show how low he would stoop to stop any challenge for his seat.

While Mr. Marks’ mailer touts his “so called” strong points, how about the flip side of the coin?

Top 5 Local Republican officials? Considering how Dem-heavy this state is, that doesn’t say much.

Blocked development of 2800 acres? But how many acres DID he agree to turn over to developers? Case in point - the CVS at Harford and Joppa Roads. David Marks actually tried to get a local community group to back this project with false promises of community improvements – never to be seen. Marks ran on the premise of not accepting money from developers and then waited until the night before his election to hold a fundraiser attended by nothing but developers.

Many years as a community leader? True, but upon his election, he never learned that his responsibilities extend beyond the Perry Hall neighborhoods. Check his official website and newsletters and you will see how top heavy the news is regarding Perry Hall with less to Towson and even less to Parkville/Carney.

On his Baltimore County website, David Marks claims he has “worked across the aisle”; more like he has surrendered to the left on everything they have wanted. He originally ran saying he would not allow the controversial speed cameras in his district, but how many have been installed anyway?

Jay Payne is an up and coming force in Baltimore County politics. He has no political war chest and has been truthful and about who he is and what he believes in, unlike his opponent. Read Jay’s mailer. He doesn’t resort to unearthing ancient history to get votes.

Jay is not part of the entrenched Baltimore County system and deserves a try. I don’t care what primary he voted in. At least he voted (and this comes from a “former Democrat” who’s voted Republican since Ronald Reagan). It’s better for someone to see the light and change parties then to be a Rino and try to convince everyone how conservative he is.

Marks would like voters to know nothing about Jay Payne. Perhaps he’s right – I’d rather have someone with a few skeletons in their closet than someone who ignores their own. Don’t just read the propaganda and go with a name you’ve heard for years. We need NEW representation in Baltimore County. Make the change we need; vote Jay Payne.
