The Dream Continues in Baltimore: Oak Crest Celebrates Dr. King

Parkville, Maryland—Oak Crest, an Erickson Living senior living community, honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a tribute brunch and program on January 24, celebrating the theme of “The Dream Continues in Baltimore…”

More than 200 residents, employees and guests reflected on Dr. King through spoken word, mindful meditation and song. The tribute was sponsored by the community’s Diversity and Inclusion Council with William Tian, Associate Executive Director, providing opening remarks.

Oak Crest was pleased to welcome Father Joseph Muth, Pastor of St. Matthews Catholic Church, as the keynote speaker. Father Muth shared current examples of interfaith connections currently being made in Baltimore City, particularly among students. JoAnne Stanton, Esq., a professor at Morgan State University, provided a moving personal account of what Dr. King’s legacy has meant to her and how his dream can be fulfilled.

Orzic Harmon represented the Bethel World Outreach Choir with a powerful rendition of “Amazing Grace.” He was introduced by Ogechi Karter, a clinical manager with Oak Crest.
