Oak Crest Good Guys Capture Softball Title

Resident team earns 4th title in 5 years at Annual Erickson Living tourney

PARKVILLE, MD—During his tenure as manager of the Baltimore Orioles, Buck Showalter will often say “I like our guys” when answering questions from the media.

His simple response speaks volumes about the character and accomplishments of his team.

If he saw the Oak Crest Good Guys play, the Orioles skipper might say “I like those guys-and gals—too.”

Behind timely hitting, solid defense and savvy pitching, the Good Guys, the resident softball team at the Parkville-based retirement community, earned a pair of victories to capture the Annual Erickson Living Softball Tournament.

The Good Guys also won the tournament in 2011, 2012 and 2014.

The event, held in Catonsville at Charlestown retirement community on June 10th, matched residents from Oak Crest, Charlestown, Riderwood (Silver Spring) and Greenspring (northern Virginia) in a two-round format.

In a tight opening game, the Good Guys defeated Greenspring 3-2.

In the championship versus Riderwood, Oak Crest jumped to an early lead to win 10-0.

The Good Guys received vocal, enthusiastic support from residents of Oak Crest who made the trip to Charlestown.
