Oak Crest Values Partnership with Boy Scout Troop 149
Scouts assist with flag placement at Erickson Living community in northeast Baltimore County

Parkville, Maryland--Embracing community partnerships has been a hallmark of Oak Crest’s 23-year history in northeast Baltimore County. This summer has been no exception.
On June 29, Boy Scout Troop 149 from Faith Community United Methodist Church on Harford Road, under the leadership of Kate Ehrenberger, visited Oak Crest to place American flags around the loop road to help prepare the campus for its Independence Day recognition and celebrations. Mike Varlotta, a resident, veteran and member of the Residents’ Advisory Council, was one of those who worked side by side with the scouts.
“The residents appreciated the scouts helping with the commemoration of our country’s independence,” noted Dana Huntington-Smith, Volunteer Program Coordinator at Oak Crest. “The consensus was that seeing hundreds of American flags throughout the campus contributed to a sense of pride and happiness. We appreciate the hard work of Boy Scout Troop 149 for helping us to make it happen and carry forth an annual tradition.”
