Parkville HS Student Earns Top Prize in MD Youth Art Month Flag Contest
Wendy Portillo, a Grade 11 student at Parkville High School, is the grand prize winner of this year's Maryland Youth Art Month Flag Contest.

From Baltimore County Public Schools: Wendy Portillo, a Grade 11 student at Parkville High School, is the grand prize winner of this year’s Maryland Youth Art Month Flag Contest, sponsored by the Maryland Art Education Association.
Her winning design will be produced on a flag and flown at the National Art Education Association Convention to be held in New York City, March 2 – 4. In addition, Portillo receives a $1,500 prize from Sargent Art, and her art teacher, James Hesser, will receive classroom art supplies worth $2,000.
The elementary level winner in the contest and three honorable mention winners are students at Summit Park Elementary School. Ella Gottlieb, the elementary level winner and a Grade 5 student, will receive art supplies worth $100, and the school’s art teacher receives classroom art supplies worth $300.

The students earning honorable mention status are Calleigh Kalleher in Grade 2, and Danielle Lichter and Nataly Ann Vekker, both in Grade 4.
