Point Breeze Credit Union Offers $1,500 Scholarships

The credit union, which has a branch in Rosedale, will give 10 scholarships to graduating seniors.

Ten graduating high school seniors will each receive a $1,500 scholarship from a local credit union.

Point Breeze Credit Union, which has a branch in Rosedale, will award the scholarships to seniors who are attending a two- or four-year college as a full-time student this fall, according to a news release.

"We have been so pleased with the response from the students in our community and their interest in the scholarship program in previous years," said Genie Briggs, a credit union spokeswoman, in the release. "The recipients were thoughtful in their responses and showed great enthusiasm and understanding of the importance of higher education to their futures.We are thrilled to be able to help these deserving young adults develop into our future leaders."

To receive a scholarship, an applicant has to be a member of the credit union, complete an application and essay, and provide two references and a letter of acceptance to the college of their choice, the release states.

Applications are available on the Point Breeze Credit Union website or at local branches.

Completed applications must be postmarked by April 30, and winners will be announced in June. To be eligible to join Point Breeze Credit Union, you must work, worship, be a member of or participate in a group located within 20 miles of a branch.

Point Breeze Credit Union has branches in Hunt Valley, Rosedale and Bel Air.
