3 Weeks of Road Closures Planned for Chapel Road

Councilman David Marks has urged developers to minimize disruptions in the area.

The segment of Chapel Road between Cross and Joppa roads will be closed for three weeks as housing developers conduct utility work, according to Councilman David Marks.

“I have urged that the road be closed in a way to minimize disruptions,” Marks wrote in an email. “As a result, the closure will be limited to between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the weekdays. Local traffic will be allowed, as well as traffic to the Chapel Hills Farm and Nursery. The road will be open at all other times to all traffic and on weekends.

“I know some residents will be frustrated by the closure, and thank them for their patience,” he continued.

Cross Road at Chapel Road is scheduled to be reopened sometime on Friday April 5. Cross Road had too been closed for three weeks.

Resurfacing along Chapel Road began last week. Crews paved the extreme ends of the roadway first, which were the most damaged sections.

The resurfacing portion of the project is expected to be completed later this year.

Once complete, 39 homes will comprise the Camp Chapel housing development, which was approved prior to Marks taking office.
