WHITE MARSH, MD — After the coronavirus pandemic forced the closure of all of its locations, AMC Theatres has “substantial doubt” the company can remain in business, according to a regulatory filing this week. In it, AMC officials said the company is generating “effectively no revenue.”

The AMC White Marsh 16 has been closed since March 19 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

All AMC locations are closed through June, and the company said it has enough money to reopen theaters this summer. However, if not allowed to reopen, the company reports it may be unable to borrow the funds needed to continue operating.

Despite Maryland entering stage two of the governor's Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery plan on Friday, movie theaters will remain closed. They are part of stage three, which includes entertainment venues. Deemed high risk, these activities will be allowed when there is "either a widely available and FDA-approved vaccine or safe and effective therapeutics that can rescue patients with significant disease or prevent serious illness in those most at risk to reach a full return to normal conditions."
