BGE Maintenance Leads to Sewage Leak Into Gunpowder Falls

A pumping station in Perry Hall lost power and leaked sewage into Gunpowder Falls on Sunday night.

A pumping station in Perry Hall leaked 800 gallons of raw sewage into Gunpowder Falls on Sunday night, after a BGE maintenance crew accidentally cut power to the station, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The BGE crew was carrying out routine maintenance near Dundawan Road when it cut power to the nearby pumping station, leading to a leak of almost two hours.

Baltimore County officials are telling residents to avoid contact with the water near Gunpowder Falls, according to the report.
