BJ's Wholesale Club Offering Members Gas at $2.50 a Gallon

It isn't a political statement, rather, just a means of keeping a few bucks in your pocket ahead of the busiest travel weekend of the year, according to BJ's Wholesale Club spokeswoman Kelly McFalls.

The club will be offering its members dramatically discounted regular unleaded gas at $2.50 a gallon beginning Thursday at 6:30 a.m.

The promotion is limited to the first 500 members, capped at 50 gallons per member.

Not a member? Not a problem. McFalls said anyone interested in taking advantage of the deal can sign-up to become a member while waiting in line. Anyone taking advanage of the promotion will also receive a "high-value" coupon book.

"Last year more than 34 million people traveled by car over Memorial Day weekend, and gas prices are on the rise again," McFalls wrote in a statement. "According to GasBuddy.com local prices are up 4 cents over the past month.

"BJ’s wants to send out its members with a little extra cash in their pockets since Memorial Day (otherwise known as the unofficial kick off of summer) is expected again to be one of the largest car travel events of the summer season," she continued.

The nearest BJ's Wholesale Club offering the promotion is located at 4201 Wholesale Club Drive, Baltimore, MD 21236.
