Church Helping Typhoon Victims, Locals Await News on Families Overseas

Members of the River of Life International Christian Fellowship are shipping supplies to typhoon victims in the Philippines, as some wait for news about the safety of their families.

Estimates on the death toll from Typhoon Haiyan have reached upwards of 10,000 people, and government officials in the Philippines estimate the storm left another 600,000 homeless.

As Red Cross and military crews work to save people from the wreckage and shelter those without  homes, several members of the River of Life International Christian Fellowship in White Marsh are awaiting word of family members in the Philippines.

Church members are packing supplies, and some who still have family in the Philippines have yet to hear from their relatives, reports WBAL 11.

On Sunday, the church will hold a benefit concert from 3 to 9 p.m., where they will accept supplies and money donations to be shipped overseas.

Anyone wishing to make donations can bring supplies to the church at 10939 Philadelphia Road in White Marsh.
