Councilman Marks to Block Four-Story Condominiums at Forge Road

The proposal for senior housing involved construction of four-story buildings near Belair and Forge Roads.

This morning, I am announcing I will block the construction of 96 condominiums at the intersection of Belair Road and Honeygo Boulevard. This corner was zoned for commercial development in 2000. A shopping center was approved before I was elected to the County Council.

I strongly support more senior housing in northeastern Baltimore County. About 25 percent of our population is senior; put another way, there are more seniors than school-age children in Baltimore County.

Still, I will not support the construction of four-story buildings at this location in Perry Hall, a gateway to our community.

I would like to thank those residents who contacted me about this proposal, especially the leadership of the adjacent Forge Reserve community.
