Councilman Marks: School Board Starts Construction of New School
The Board approved $48 million in construction contracts for the first of two schools planned in the White Marsh area.

On March 9th, the Baltimore County Board of Education voted to to advance the construction of the new elementary school proposed at Rossville Boulevard in the White Marsh area.
The Board approved $48.3 million in construction contracts, allowing the project to proceed. Construction will start this summer, with an expected opening in August 2022.
I would like to thank the Board of Education for activating this long-anticipation project. Specifically, I would like to thank Fifth District Board member Julie Henn for her longtime advocacy of this project, as well as County Executive John Olszewski, Council colleague Cathy Bevins and the state legislators from the Eighth District.

A delay in state construction funding moved the construction back by two years.
A new northeastern middle school is expected to be built next at King Avenue, and the long-term construction plan includes a recommendation for a new high school, which will cost at least $120 million. Overcrowding is most severe at earlier grades.
