County Council Expands Permit-Only Parking to Neighborhood Near PHHS

The resolution affects nine homes across from Perry Hall High School.

The Baltimore County Council has expanded permit-only parking to a neighborhood directly across from Perry Hall High School to alleviate loitering and other issues caused by a group of students unwilling to park on-campus.

"I supported this plan because 100 percent of residents within the affected area wanted the zone enlarged," Councilman David Marks said.  "The vast majority of Perry Hall High School students are respectful of neighbors, but there are loitering problems and we need to encourage students to park on campus if possible.  I will continue to work to reduce unnecessary parking, loitering and littering wherever possible."

Students parking along Perryvale Road and Jacinth Way (Area J) have caused issues ranging from loitering, vandalism, property damage and even one physical altercation, according to neighbors who filed the petition for permit parking.

Neighbors have speculated that the students are unwilling to pay the $40 for an on-campus parking permit, opting instead to park for free in neighborhoods.
