The event is billed as Amy Caprio Plaque Dedication and Family Fun Public Safety Day and will be held from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Perry Paw Dog Park, 9033 Honeygo Boulevard, Perry Hall, MD 21128.

There is another animal-themed tribute to Caprio in nearby Fallston, which is where she lived with her husband and their pooch.

The Humane Society of Harford County dedicated a kennel and plaque to the officer in August 2018. She and her husband adopted their dog, Doodle, from the shelter in 2015.

Caprio was killed by a teen who was involved in home burglaries in Perry Hall on May 21, 2018. The teen who ran her over and killed her was sentenced to life in prison in August with the possibility of parole. His accomplices received sentences in September of life in prison with all but 30 years suspended. They were burglarizing homes in Perry Hall while their friend ran over and killed Caprio on May 21, 2018, police said. All were convicted of first-degree murder.
