The shopping center is the oldest in Perry Hall, according to Councilman David Marks, who announced in February that the restaurant had plans to open there. Perry Hall Square is 55 years old, Marks said, adding that at least $2 million in upgrades were planned.
Built in a space that had not previously housed a restaurant, El Salto has a brand-new interior. Brightly painted walls, new furniture and paintings from Mexico add to the upbeat ambiance in the restaurant, which also offers takeout.
