Flood Warning Issued For Baltimore County, City

A flood warning has been issued for parts of Baltimore County and Baltimore City due to flooding reported by law enforcement Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The flood warning is in effect until 11:30 a.m., and a flash flood watch has been issued through midnight due to the potential for several inches of rain throughout the day.

Weather officials said flooding was reported in Dundalk and Essex before 7:15 a.m., and these areas may flood during the flood warning period: Baltimore, Middle River, Back River, Dundalk, Essex, Perry Hall, Rosedale, Rossville, White Marsh, Edgemere, Eastpoint and Fullerton.

Drivers should turn around —don't drown — if they come across flooded roads.

A flash flood watch is in effect for much of the state as showers and thunderstorms spread across the Baltimore-Washington region. Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms could lead to several inches of rain in areas that are repeatedly affected.

Rapid rises in streams and low-lying areas may result in flash flooding, which is a life-threatening situation.

These areas are included in a flash flood watch, effective until midnight:

• Anne Arundel County
• Baltimore City
• Baltimore County
• Calvert County
• Carroll County
• Charles County
• Harford County
• Howard County
• Montgomery County
• Prince George's County
• St. Mary's County

On Friday, scattered thunderstorms may also cause flooding, according to a hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather Service.
