A flash flood watch is in effect until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, for much of the region, including Baltimore County. The watch calls for another round of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy rain Tuesday afternoon, with locally heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding.
Creeks, streams and urban areas are particularly vulnerable to potential flooding, especially because the ground is already saturated.
Before 3:30 a.m., the Baltimore County Fire Department found a vehicle stuck in flood water in the Rosedale area. Nobody was reportedly inside the vehicle, which was on Pulaski Highway/US 40 at Philadelphia Road, officials said. Drivers should use caution and avoid driving through large puddles, officials advised.
In addition, Route 7/Philadelphia Road was temporarily closed between Fontana Lane and Rossville Boulevard around 4 a.m. due to flooding.
Although roads have reopened, drivers should be cautious and if they see standing water of unknown depth, turn around; don't drown.
