Al Miller, 82, Retired Perry Hall Athletic Director
"One of the greats at Perry Hall High School" has died, leaving a legacy that includes his name on the school's stadium.

PERRY HALL, MD — Albert Dominic Miller Jr. of Carney died on Friday, July 13. He was 82.
Miller was a longtime coach at Perry Hall High School, where he retired with the title of athletic director.
Miller was the husband of Jean D. Miller for 59 years; father of Joanne Miller Waldron and her husband Scott, Albert D. Miller III and his wife Becky, William H. Miller and his husband Ken Saenz; brother of Ronald Miller and Joan Drasta; grandfather of Scott Waldron, Albert D. Miller IV, Ashley Hayes; and great grandfather of Chase Hayes. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He coached for 40 years at Dundalk, Parkville and Perry Hall High Schools, from 1958 to 1998.
His career at Perry Hall High School spanned 32 years. After starting there in 1966, he coached football and wrestling before retiring with the title of athletic director.

The stadium at Perry Hall High School was dedicated in his honor in 2013, named the Albert D. Miller Stadium.
"Mr. Miller was one of the greats at Perry Hall High," said Councilman David Marks. "My prayers to his family."
Miller was named to the Maryland State Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame in 2002, and he was the first person inducted into the Perry Hall Sports Hall of Fame, in 1998, Marks said. He was also the Baltimore County Wrestling Coach of the Year four times and Baltimore County Football Coach of the Year three times.
"Coach Miller always had a smile on his face...and loved Perry Hall," the Perry Hall Men's Lacrosse Team posted to its Twitter account. "Thoughts and prayers go out to Miller Family. RIP Coach Miller."
Those who reflected on his passing described Miller as "warm, funny and delightful" and "not only a great coach, but also a kind and just man."
Family and friends will celebrate Miller's life at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 9534 Belair Road, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, people may make memorial contributions in Al Miller's name to Perry Hall Athletic Booster Club, P.O. Box 44382, Nottingham, MD 21236.
Memorial tributes may be sent to the family at Evans Funeral Chapel.
