Graduation Parade, Video Ceremony Honor Perry Hall Class Of 2020

PERRY HALL, MD — The same day the virtual graduation video for Perry Hall High School was released, grads were treated to a graduation parade around The Avenue at White Marsh.

A car parade featuring seniors and their supporters circled around the outdoor shopping venue Monday evening along a route that also included a lap around the White Marsh Mall. Honks and cheers filled the air as the car parade traveled through the area, met with balloons and banners along the way.

The Perry Hall High School PTSA put together the celebratory event.

The car parade and virtual ceremony were ways to provide recognition for a senior class that has not been together inside the halls of Perry Hall High School since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. School buildings were closed effective March 16 to prevent the spread of the virus.

With large gatherings prohibited, the community has found ways other than the traditional graduation ceremony to honor graduates.

"We've gotten to see how strong the Perry Hall community is," Perry Hall High School Class of 2020 President Diana Tran said in the virtual graduation video, recapping recent months.
