Ground Broken at Perry Paw Dog Park
Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz joined members of the Perry Paw Dog Park Committee and their pets in the groundbreaking ceremony.
Local leaders gathered at Honeygo Regional Park to break ground for the long-sought Perry Paw Dog Park on Tuesday.
According to the Baltimore News Journal, the $200,000 project will mostly be funded by the county, with $20,000 of support from the Perry Paw Dog Park Committee. The facility will have a key card entry system, water fountains and two fenced-in play areas for dogs.
Two months ago, Kamenetz praised the Perry Hall community for taking the initiative in getting the dog park.
"It is very impressive that the community demonstrated its support for the project by raising $20,000 in private funds to support construction," Kamenetz said.
In July, when the funds were secured for the park, County Councilman David Marks also said he was glad to see the park coming to the area.
"I have strongly supported this project because there was private sector support, and because animal lovers have every right to recreation space as those who use ballfields, picnic areas, and trails," Marks said.
