PERRY HALL, MD — There's a new restaurant getting buzz around Perry Hall. It's located where Basta Pasta used to be.

Hive Baltimore Bistro held a soft opening June 13, and people have been abuzz about it ever since.

Currently, Hive is running what it calls an "opening menu," which offers starters, entrees, seafood and sandwiches. There's also a separate menu for beverages. Both food and drink are inspired by the Baltimore area.

One of the first items under the starters section is "Perry Hall crab toast," which is a fresh baguette topped with Maryland Colossal lump crab imperial. Staff said that this was one of the popular items so far.

While several items are named for the areas around Perry Hall, the ingredients do not necessarily come from the locations incorporated into the name, such as "Filet Middle River," a locally sourced filet mignon, and "Hive Gunpowder wild game burger," an exotic meat of the week that is cooked to order, according to the menu.

In the case of the Butchers Hill-inspired "Ostrowski's kielbasa," two handmade Polish sausages that are the stars of this dish come from Ostrowski of Bank Street in Baltimore.

Each entree comes with one side: a side salad, bbq brussels sprouts, fries or broccoli. The brussels sprouts were recommended by the server, and Patch recommends them as well.

Also on the menu: Hive crab cake, which is a half-pound lump crab cake; bacon-wrapped meatloaf; build-your-own pizza; a selection of steaks, burgers and sandwiches; and seafood and pasta dishes.

Hive Baltimore Bistro is at 9629 Belair Road. Hours are 11 to 11:45 a.m. Monday to Thursday; 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.
