Ironic Photo of the Day: Do Not Distur... Oh Wait

A possible poor sign placement near a neighborhood in development has us scratching our heads.

UPDATE (1 p.m.)—Developer DR Horton is actually improving the forest buffer surrounding the 39-home neighborhood development, according to a supervisor in the Baltimore County office of environmental compliance.

Supervisor Brian Lindley said the sign is actually preemptive and will serve as a warning for an improved forest buffer when the project is complete.

The developer will actually be grading out the property and planting vegetation to improve natural water flow, Lindley said.

"Normally that's not the case ... but in this case they're actually going to create an improved buffer," Lindley said.

Passing through Chapel Road today I spotted a rather peculiar sign at the corner of Cross Road, near 39-home neighborhood development.

The sign simply says:

Forest Buffer

Do No Disturb

...which is kind of hard to do when you get rid of the forest.

The bottom of the sign shows a county phone number for the Baltimore County Office of Environmental Protection and Sustainability. A representative from the office was not immediately available for comment.

It is possible that the sign, which is still affixed to an old fence, may just be a relic of a time before the development. But the severed tree stump in the mid-ground is just a little to ironic to overlook.

It wouldn't be the first developer DR Norton has had an issue with improper signage.
