WASHINGTON, D.C. — Spring is almost here, and it may bring a layer of fresh snow with it.
The current forecast calls for rain changing to snow overnight late Saturday. Snow is expected to fall Sunday morning before returning to rain for the rest of the day. There's a chance for a little more snow Sunday night.
Some accumulation is possible, according to the National Weather Service, but will mainly be on grassy surfaces.

As is typical, the debate centers on how much. The weather service forecasters say "light amounts."
An Accuweather map puts the D.C. region in the 1-3 range, but their explanation puts it closer to 1 inch.

"Some of the snow that falls will melt on warm, paved surfaces in the mid-Atlantic," they write. "The storm can be mixed with rain for a time in the coastal mid-Atlantic."
The Capital Weather Gang warns there may also be slick spots on the roads late Sunday.
The latest forecast from the National Weather Service:
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. North wind 6 to 8 mph.
Saturday Night: A chance of rain and snow before 2am, then snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Sunday: Snow likely before 8am, then rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Sunday Night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.
