Local Students to Provide Holiday Cheer to Departing Soldiers
Students at Gunpowder Elementary School will join local leaders, police and volunteers in distributing care packages for soldiers leaving BWI.

On Thursday, students at Gunpowder Elementary School will join local leaders and Baltimore County police in preparing care packages for military personnel departing from BWI who will be gone for the holidays.
Organizers hope to complete 200 care packages, with snacks and notes of gratitude. On Dec. 17, Â police will transport the packages to BWI, where State Senator Katherine Klausmeier and County Councilman David Marks will distribute them to departing soldiers.
"At an early age, children need to understand the importance of public service, whether its defending our country or serving as a police officer, firefighter, or a teacher," Marks told Patch.
