More Than 30 Abandoned Cats Rescued From White Marsh Hotel Room
Officials were dispatched to the Colony Inn Motel when 31 cats and kittens were discovered in a room there. The renter had already left.
WHITE MARSH, MD — Someone who rented a room at the Colony Inn Motel for approximately one year apparently left a few things behind — 31 abandoned cats. Baltimore County Department of Health and Human Services spokesperson Stacie Burgess confirmed that 31 cats and kittens were found alive at the motel on Pulaski Highway in White Marsh, but some of them suffered from health issues. A few were pregnant and others had fleas and tapeworms.
Burgess said the animals had access to food and water. She confirmed that the property manager knows who the individual is and officials are trying to track down that person. The Baltimore Sun reported that all of that animals are in the care of Baltimore County Animal Services.
WBAL reported that police were called to the scene as a precaution because of the strong ammonia smell and hazmat suitshad to be worn just to enter the room and rescue the cats.
