Mountain Christian Church Drops Wastewater Permit Request
The proposal was opposed by many Kingsville residents and by the Baltimore County Council.

On October 22nd, the Maryland Department of the Environment notified Baltimore County that Mountain Christian Church will no longer seek a permit to discharge treated wastewater into a tributary that leads to the Little Gunpowder Falls.
This concludes nearly four months of controversy in which Baltimore County Councilmembers and residents questioned the impact of the proposal and the lack of notification to Baltimore County. Mountain Christian Church is located in Harford County slightly northeast of Baltimore County.
I sponsored a resolution that sought an on-site alternative for treating waste from the church—which the church has now apparently agreed to explore. That resolution passed unanimously with support from Councilmembers in both parties.

Now that the Mountain Christian Church has dropped this proposal it’s time for the Maryland General Assembly to tighten notification requirements so that adjacent jurisdictions are notified about these plans in the future.
I would like to thank all those who spoke out on this proposal. I will always fight to protect our waterways.
