NKF-MD Teams with Everyman Theatre for 'Under the Skin'

Performances of this benefit play are scheduled through Feb. 21.

LUTHERVILLE, Md. – Kidney disease, organ donation and transplantation are taking center stage at Everyman Theatre in Baltimore (315 W Fayette St. • 21201).

Playing now through Feb. 21, Under the Skin (written by Michael Hollinger and directed by Vincent M. Lancisi) explores the curious nature of family dynamics and the true meaning of giving a part of yourself away…as the main character needs a kidney transplant.

To raise awareness of kidney disease and the need for organ donation, the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland (NKF-MD) has partnered with Everyman.

In addition to distributing Foundation brochures and other educational materials, the theater will give NKF-MD $5 from each full-priced ticket sold using the code, “KFMD.” Tickets are $52/$60 and can be purchased at https://everyman.secure.force.com/ticket.

During some of the shows – including those on National Donor Day: Feb. 14 – dialysis patients and transplant recipients will be on hand to share their experiences about living with kidney disease.

For every 10 people who have kidney disease 9 of them do not know that they have it,” said Traci Barnett, NKF-MD’s president and CEO. “By partnering with Everyman Theatre’s production of Under the Skin, we hope people will be encouraged to speak with their doctors about whether they may be affected by kidney disease.”
