Over 7K Without Power In Baltimore County After Thunderstorms

BREAKING: Officials said fallen wires were reported in Baltimore County, along with heavy rain and lightning.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A severe thunderstorm is causing lightning and heavy rain in the Baltimore metro region.

"Continue to stay inside until the storm passes," Baltimore County Emergency Management officials advised around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for Baltimore County until 10 p.m.

Although a severe thunderstorm warning for the region has expired, authorities said the storm in the Towson-White Marsh-Lutherville area was causing "a lot of lightning and heavy rain."

In addition, officials said multiple reports of wires down came through from the western side of the county — in the Pikesville area.

After 9 p.m., BGE was reporting 7,268 customers in Baltimore County were experiencing outages.

People should report outages to BGE online or by calling 1-877-778-2222. Do not go closer than 10 feet to a fallen wire.
