Perry Hall Library Celebrates 50 Years on Saturday
Baltimore County Library employees will celebrate 50 years of public education and technology on Saturday.
When the original Perry Hall library branch opened in 1963, a crowd including eventual Vice President Spiro Agnew gathered at the location on Belair Road to celebrate Baltimore County Public Libraries expanding service to the northern parts of the county.
On Saturday, library workers, public officials and local residents will celebrate the learning and community engagement that has taken place in the 50 years since that opening.
For 45 years, the branch on Belair Road served the Perry Hall community until it closed in early 2009, eventually replaced by the current building on Honeygo Boulevard.

Festivities planned for the 50th anniversary include music, food, balloon art, face painting, craft making and remarks from BCPL director Jim Fish, councilman David marks and others.
Family activities will start at 11 a.m., official remarks will take place at 1 p.m., and more activities will continue until 5 p.m.
