A fourth park in the Perry Hall area will be undergoing development, thanks to a hefty donation from the Baltimore County Savings Bank Foundation.
The foundation pledged $80,000 to the Perry Hall Children's Playground project, which is planning the Bishops Meadow Playground, set to be completed late 2014, according to a press release.
"The Baltimore County Savings Bank Foundation is pleased to support this very worthwhile project, which will bring joy to children and their families for decades to come," said bank representative David Meadows.
The playground will be built on park land south of the Perry Hall library on Honeygo Boulevard, and it will be open to all families, with facilities accessible to special needs children. The location will also have an amphitheater for events.
"With this contribution, we now have five parks under development in the 5th District, and four are in Perry Hall," Councilman David Marks said in the press release. "Two of these parks will be finished within the next year. Our goal is to have this latest project done by the end of 2014."
Dennis Robinson, president of the Perry Hall Improvement Association, praised the bank foundation for taking up a role in the community traditionally maintained by the local government.
"This is yet another example of a reliable community partner from the business community stepping up to make something positive happen during a time when government funding is limited," Robinson said in the release.
"It will help all children, including those with special needs, play together and grow up together," said volunteer Bill Paulshock.
The foundation was formed in 1998 and supports charitable causes around Baltimore County. More information on the foundation is available on its website.
