“As much as I find it a little bit overwhelming, it’s my favorite event of the entire year. Period,” Emily Khan, Student Council president, said.

More than 100 student volunteers helped pull the annual community gathering together, which doubled in size since last year. Twenty-five Student Council members organized, while about 90 students lent a hand serving and setting up.

“I think the volunteers possibly play an even bigger role because they’re they ones who are helping execute this whole thing right now,” Khan said.

One Essex woman was so grateful for the students' efforts, she presented Patch with a hand-written Letter to the Editor, that we published last week.

Senior class president Connor Porter was tasked with hosting the gala event that included magic demonstrations and dance lessons.

“It’s cool to see senior citizens smiling, having a good time, maybe enjoying a prom that they were never able to enjoy at our age,” Porter said.
