Police said the school went on lockdown while officers looked into a report of an armed person walking around a couple neighborhoods away.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: According to BCPS spokesperson Mychael Dickerson, "Perry Hall Elementary, Perry Hall Middle, and Perry Hall High Schools were all briefly on alert status at the request of police."

Baltimore County police and school officials lifted a temporary lockdown Friday, after someone reported seeing a person possibly carrying a rifle in a neighborhood near the school, according to a police spokesperson.

Officers searched the reported area, and after finding no apparent threat, lifted the lockdown at Perry Hall Middle School.

County Councilman David Marks assured people on his Facebook page that there was no threat, saying, "Apparently, someone thought that a tree trimmer was an individual with a gun. That report was false and there is no security threat."
