Seven Courts Speed Camera Vandalized Again

Someone spray-painted the camera orange, while also defacing a nearby road.

A vandal spray-painted the Seven Courts speed camera over the weekend, Perry Hall residents reported.

It is the second time since Sept. 2012 that the camera has been vandalized.

The camera, which stands just off the curb near the Seven Oaks Senior Center, has since been cleaned, although remnants of orange paint can still be seen on the frame of the lens and at its base. (See photos)

Additionally, it appears the same vandal—using the same color spray paint—also tagged a phallic symbol on a nearby roadway, which hasn't been cleaned as of Wednesday afternoon.

"Demolishing cameras will not prevent these folks from getting tickets," Gwen Evans, a Perry Hall resident who observed the defaced camera, wrote in an email.

Residents who spot vandalism can report the graffiti to police using the neighborhood safety and awareness program iWatch. Baltimore County Police Ofc. Mark Dorsey said that residents can and should also dial 911 to report acts of vandalism in their neighborhoods.

Speed camera vandalism has been an on-again, off-again issue in Baltimore County since the program launched in 2011.
