Seven Oaks Senior Center Releases Scheduled Events for July

Do you miss getting together with friends for a game night? Do you long for more independence?

Do you find your 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s a little more lonely than you expected? 

The solutions to these questions can all be found under one roof in Perry Hall, at the Seven Oaks Senior Center. 

The center has released its full schedule of July events, which range from  bingo and bunco games to workshops on stress prevention and computer trouble-shooting and everything in between. 

Additionally, the center has scheduled a series of travel opportunities for over-60 crowd. The next field trip is to the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre at the end of July. View the full list below.

Bingo        

Tuesday, July 2 & 16                  12:30 pm

Ann Knoerlein calls out the lucky numbers for afternoon Bingo with cash prizes, cost $7.00. The Eating Together Program will provide lunch at noon prior to Bingo, sign up at the front desk where the menu is available.

Seated Massage        

Tuesday, July 2, 16 & 30               9:30-11:30 am      

Would you like to reduce stress, relax muscles, increase circulation and decrease pain?  An eight minute massage costs $5.00; appointments available at the front desk.

Wayne Schaumburg will take you on a journey through Baltimore’s Historic Neighborhoods. Learn the history behind these famous neighborhoods accompanied by photos.

Learn the Ten Rules for Grandparenting from Frances Bond, PhD. She discusses the challenges and offers ways they can be reduced so everyone can experience family harmony.

Jewelry Workshops

Friday, July 19 & 26     10:30 am-12:30 pm Marlene Strobel, beads master, will be offering a jewelry making class. Cost is $5 in advance per class and this includes all supplies. Sign up in advance at the front desk.         

Free to Be Me

Extending psychological independence isi something that enhances the quality of life (body and mind). Join Susan Parks for an interactive discussion on what kinds of choices we can make as older adults in order to foster an internal concept as ourselves for independence and reliance.

Old Bag Auction

Tuesday, July 23                           12:30 pm

This annual event is a great fundraiser for the center and you get to go home with a new purse and some goodies! Tickets are $7 and includes lunch: chicken salad on a croissant, 3 bean salad, chips, drinks and sherbet. Advance tickets are required to this sell out event!  

Computer Troubleshooting

Wednesday, July 24                  10:00 am

Having trouble with your computer? Alvin Miller will lead this hands-on presentation on how to troubleshoot simple computer problems. Topics to be discussed will include: Check event, restore point and delete program procedures. Sign up at the front desk.

Franklin Square Hospital Presents: Stress Prevention

Friday, July 26                           1:00 pm

Learn ways you can identify and cope with stress in a positive and healthy way. Enjoy a brief relaxation session at the end of the presentation.
