Snowiest Day On Record: When Baltimore County Saw Most Snowfall
With winter more than one-third over, will Baltimore County break the snowiest day on record?
BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — While the storms that have whipped across the region Friday have left some branches in their wake, it's nothing compared to what was on the ground 10 years ago.
On Feb. 7, 2010, Perry Hall had 33.6 inches of snow on the ground, according to historical weather data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
In Maryland, the record for the most snowfall on record goes to Garrett County, when it snowed 35.5 inches on Feb. 6, 2010.

The national record goes to Colorado, which saw more than six feet of snow on a single day. On April 15, 1921, it snowed 76 inches in Boulder County, Colorado.

With a little less than two months of winter left, the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a cold, snowy winter throughout much of the United States, with at least seven big snowstorms from one coast to the other. In our state, the Old Farmer's Almanac predicts weather that is "mild with soakers."
Here's the seven-day forecast for Baltimore County, according to the National Weather Service:
Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11 a.m., then showers likely until 1 p.m. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Temperature falling to around 39 by 5 p.m. and 29 degrees overnight. Windy with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43 and low around 31. West wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Sunday: A slight chance of snow after 1 a.m. — chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Then mostly sunny, with a high near 47 and low around 36. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Monday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 52 and low around 40. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
Tuesday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49 and low of 35. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47 and low around 36. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Thursday: Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48 and low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
