Ever since, Baltimore County Public Schools has been conducting instruction remotely, using virtual learning platforms.

March 1 was the target date set by Gov. Larry Hogan and State Superintendent of Schools Karen. Salmon to give students the option of returning to school buildings for instruction.

"A little rain can't dim our warm welcome for students in Cohort/Group A starting hybrid in-person learning today!" Baltimore County Public Schools posted on Facebook.

Starting this week, two groups of students have the option of returning for school in person:

  • Students enrolled in public separate day schools (Battle Monument, Maiden Choice, Ridge Ruxton, and White Oak schools)
  • Students in preschool to second grade (including programs for 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, prekindergarten, kindergarten, grades 1 and 2; and grade 3 students in grades 2/3 class in a special education regional program)

The hybrid learning plan will be phased in over the rest of the semester, according to the plan laid out by Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Darryl Williams.

Daily, parents must screen children for symptoms before they go to school. The school system released a video on what parents need to do for their children to return to in-person instruction.

Free meal distribution programs will continue for students.
